Our Story

The Two Decades Of Boos

Picture of The Two Decades Of Boos

Our story begins in 2006… in the most romantic place ever, a Sprint Wireless store at the Long Beach Town Center. Marisol finished helping liquidate a Good Guys store and was starting a new job at Sprint. On her very first day, she met Tara. Tara, known for being both incredibly friendly and an unapologetic bargain queen, quickly introduced herself and invited Marisol to lunch. Rumor has it...Tara may have been hoping for a discount on a TV…but instead she walked away with something much better, a new best friend.

From that day on, the two were inseparable.

They quickly started calling each other “Boo,” and their friendship became the kind that could take over an entire room. There were club nights, concerts, spontaneous trips, festivals, and countless adventures. Through relationships, life changes, and years of memories, they were always right there for each other, never once imagining that one day they would end up together.

Then came one fateful night in 2010, celebrating Marisol’s little sister’s birthday. Somewhere between the laughter, music, the test tube shots, and chaos of a night out, a spark was lit.

The next morning was their usual Sunday ritual: $ 6 bottomless mimosas at Gallagher’s. Marisol drove to pick Tara up, something she had done countless times before. But this time, it felt different. Marisol was nervous and excited in a way that she couldn’t explain. Meanwhile, Tara was at her house, equally excited, trying on multiple outfits like it was a first date. Once at Gallaghers, the moment they clinked their mimosa glasses and their eyes met, they both knew something had shifted and that they were in love (exact moment pictured above)! Somewhere between that previous night out and Sunday brunch, Cupid finally struck his arrow.

Thursday nights soon became their official date night, with each of them taking turns planning a new restaurant or adventure. With every date, they fell deeper in love and before long, they did what any good U-Haul lesbian love story calls for…they moved in together.

Travel and adventure has always been an important part of their lives. They both believe that the best memories come from experiences, discovering new places, learning about different cultures, trying different foods, and collecting stories along the way. Over the years, their adventures have taken them far and wide, but the best part has always been exploring the world side by side.

Throughout it all, they continued to grow both personally and professionally. Marisol proudly watched Tara from her very first biology class all the way through the completion of her doctorate- cheering her on every step of the way.

Family has also been at the center of their lives. Both Tara and Marisol are incredibly close with their families, and that shared value has helped shape the life they've built together.

More recently, they added a new member to the family, their fur baby, Ringo Starr. Ringo has quickly become the most spoiled member of the household.

Next on their list of adventures is buying a home in Long Beach, and of course, continuing to add plenty more stamps to their passports.

Their wedding marks a beautiful new chapter in a love story that has been twenty years in the making! They cannot wait to celebrate this special day surrounded by the people they love most, and are very excited to make this lifelong commitment. Tara never did get that TV discount from Marisol after all..but they both got the deal of a lifetime :)
